Anyone else like a Strat into a high gain amp? I'm talking about single coil or stacked single coil loaded Strats. At one point in my life I played Strats into a Mesa Mk IV. To this day it was easily one of the best sounding rigs I've played through. I am currently awaiting my amp from Jerry at FJA Amps. Jerry is modding my 5150II. I might get back to playing my Strat most of the time once the amp shows up.

Yes, my favorite guitar/amp pairing right now is a Alder/Maple/Rosewood Fender Strat (Wildwood 10 - so stock John Cruz pickups) into a Voodoo Amps V-Rock and G12-65s, with the only pedal being a Boss GE-10 very slightly boosted across the EQ in sslight W. Favorite position is the bridge pickup by itself too. Thunderous bouncing bottom end and clarity. I like that I can push the amp more.

I use it for Metallica, Megadeth and 80s hard rock tones like Randy Rhodes, Iron Maiden. Rolling off the volume a bit goes back to classic rock tones (Man on the Silver Mountain).

I have used my stock American standard strat into high gain amps before with some great results.

Dude...your strat into that VM sounded ridiculous

Cyndicate had an all single Andy that was great, too.

If I could find the right axe, I'd definitely like to have one.

I love my Strats with EMG S single coils into high gain amps. I don't like passive single coils as much when doing the high gain thing though.....

Thanks. I was playing that rig an hour ago. Lots of fun. I have really high hopes for what my Strat will sound like through the FJA 5150.

Thats what I played for years and just loved the tones.

I havent found a passive single I could really keep either. I put a PAF Pro in one of my strats (not very high output) and it is very cool.

I love the DiMarzio VV Blues in the neck and the Tone Zone S in the bridge

I tend towards humbucking Gibsons for hi gain; clean to lo/mid gain for my Strats
I've heard others rock strats super hard, but I could never get the vibe going with my slop technique/tunes, lol..I'm always feeling gentle or bluesy jams on single coils

I love it, though I tend to roll off the tone know for the bridge pup. Just have to deal with the noise.

I do. I like lots of different tones and that combo is definitely one of them.

Nice!

Not really high gain but fortin cali by-passing the clipping circuits, sorry for the out of tune playing but did not really care at that point. Was having fun. YJM singles which are stupid low output.

I need to do a natas vid clip with the yjm clone.

Yep the Mk IV and your TAs prolly sound unreal. That amp and single coil tone is so sweet. I can't believe more people don't use it.

Funny you mention that. I was jamming on it with my TAG loaded with singles today. Sounded dreamy!

Sounds awesome Scott! I couldn't tell in the low light but were you wearing boxers? Many men want to know.

Did detect some Xanadu or Rush in general? Sounded great either way.

I love the bite single coils have but sometimes they can sound thin. Guess it's all in the pickups and amp whether it will be a killer match. I do love high gain and the neck pickups
