I just bought a new fish preamp. At least nos ( at least that is what was said to me).
It was from the spanish ebay. the serial number is 004.
Everything indicating the unit was never used before, thought strato after the first minute or two, is not working.
When i go to strato channel, after 10 seconds (more about) i hear some noises like the noise you would get from a malfunctioning guitar pot.
Scratches and squiggling.

If i moove the preamp, or hit it a tiny bit it works for another 20-30 seconds then again. I tried and replace the tube of the strato channel but nothing.

The seller will receive ofcrouse a negative feedback, but i need your help really. PLEASE. I paid alot for this unit...

Thnx

come on, some one save the day here... Please.
I have to record a band with this thingy next week and i am really frustrated

I would replace all the tubes for starters. If that did not work I would open the unit and move things around a little to see if I could find a bad connection or a cold solder joint.

You need to change out V2, V4 and V5. Or swap a known good tube into each socket. Each of these effect the Strato. Although they are gain stages for other channels, at low volumes, they may not stand out as prevalent as the Strato.

I must add, that apart for the noises, the 2 little triangle lights that are on when the channel is on, start to tremble and after 5 seconds the go off. So even if you have choose the strato channel it is like nothing has been chosen since there is no indication in any light that some channel is on.

Today that i played with the fish, there was no problem at all.

What is happening?

do u still believe this could be caused by the tubes??

Play tomorrow and the next day with the Fish and see if there are still no problems. It will have been a tube. The lights are unrelated.

What do u mean exaclty? After the noises occur, the lights go flashing , like having a bad connection and then they turn off, and the chanell is not working at all. Can this all, be a tube?

Today that i played 3-4 times with the fish nothing happened. Everything seemed right.
Please if you know, tell me the best possible uprade for my fishes tubes? I mean there has to be something better than the chinese tubes i got inside this preamp
