Stupid question to ask, but...

When you have a module in your hand with the front faceplate facing you, and you want to know which preamp tube is channel a, and channel b... how can you tell. Easier put would be with the front facing you, what channel is the left, and what channel is the right?

I believe both tubes are used for both channels. I put a Jan 5751 in the V2 spot to clean up my low gain modules.

Two tubes = 4 gain stages IIRC. Not all the modules use all 4, but I do believe that each module uses both tubes for both channels. I could be wrong. :dunno:

But back to your question, I'm pretty sure that looking at the knobs, V1 is on the left, and V2 is on the right. Correct me if I am mistaken...

Thanks for the help, I was trying to take some of the compression out of the EG5, I love that module... but damn is it way too compressed for my taste on the b channel. Channel A is great though.

Send bruce an email. He could probably give you some ideas...

V1 is the tube on the left and mainly affects the overall tone, V2 is the tube on the right and mainly affects the gain. Both tubes are for both channels.

I'd be curious to see what bruce would have to say about the compression.
