I am coming to realize that no matter how much I adjust the height of the vmod pickups in my Ash Telecaster....they are just too bright. Ice picky!

Not only my ears, let a local legend play it and he noticed it too.

What are some great tele pickups you use, and I don't need the most expensive boutique ones....just some that sound great.

Thanks

I have a Fralin Steel Pole 43 in the bridge of my tele partscaster. If you dig the P90 thing, it’s great. Great gain tone and really cleans up well rolling volume back.

Also have a Lollar ‘52 that sounds great too.

I dont believe they are all that expensive either IMO in regards to aftermarket pups…

I use a Bare Knuckle Piledriver in my ash body tele, but it's high output so not your standard tele.

I’ve only tried the Lollar Vintage, Lollar Special, and Arcane ‘59 Experience and liked the Arcane the most. It’s close to the Lollar Special but the raised D pole makes it a little twangier on that string which I like.

I have the Lollar ‘52 in the neck, usually with the tone control disconnected.

lot's of great Pickups out there.
The first non boutique out of my head is the Duncan Jerry Donahue if you want classic tele tone but a bit smoother & warmer.
I also like the A3 10k AWG43 Broadcaster style pickups, but it will also be noticeable hotter than the neck PU...

My alder body Fender tele has Lollar ‘52 set and my ash body Nash has Lollar vintage neck and Lollar special bridge. I’m not good at describing the pickup differences especially being in two different guitars. The fender has an all rosewood neck also so tones will vary. I just know if you want an amazing traditional tele sound ya can’t wrong with Lollar. I’ve tried some good Fralins also but Lollar just had “it” for me.

For traditional tele tones at a reasonable price point, I like the Dimarzio Twang King neck pu, and a Fender no-caster in the bridge. Texas special bridge is ok too.
Gets the job done and sounds like a tele to me.
I own 2 tele's, both ash body, and the maple neck one has the dimarzio/ no-caster combo for the traditional vibe, and the rosewood board one has the Texas special bridge with a gibson Firebird neck pu for a little more heat.

Pretty much every tele I get ends up with CS Texas Specials eventually. I really like the emgs too, but the aesthetics are lacking.
