I walk into a big box guitar store in Michigan, ask the guy behind the counter if he carries Suhrs. Types into his terminal "S-I-R nope, sorry."

I correct his spelling, he rolls his eyes at me and after a quick search, his answer remains the same.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy my Modern, getting more used to it everyday. I was however really skeptical in purchasing one prior to ever playing one. (you see, my compulsion to acquire the best gear rarely ever pays off)

This time I was lucky, but I have to ask, why is such an amazing guitar not carried by more dealers? I drove through the entire states of both Michigan and Wisconsin looking for a Suhr dealer to try one out before buying, the closest was in Chicago and even their stock was limited and no moderns were in stock.

Yep, been there done that.

Just checking :)

I'm glad I live only a few miles away from Tone Merchants in case I ever want to demo one, I couldn't find one with the specs I wanted though so I just took the plunge and ordered my Modern Carve top blindly, kind of glad I took the plunge, that guitar has pretty much cured my guitar gas... for now

I miss living in socal, and also Toronto for their respective music sceen. Jeff Hilligan can attest that Northern Michigan is in dire need of some rockin venues and a better selection of gear in the local music stores.

I'm glad Suhr and most of the other higher end gear are not in the big box stores. If it was, it would put your local hometown music stores out of business. You get better service from the local stores, please support them. I always buy from one of my local dealers if the stock or can get what I'm looking for.
