Guys:
Most of you probably know that I've lurked around on this website for several years, don't post a lot or cause a lot of trouble :) I'm the type who rarely buys new equipment. I have a USA Jackson Soloist as my only guitar, which I've had for 12~15 years.

Now I'm gassing big time for a Suhr and my problem is that I can't decide what I want. As of right now I'm torn between one of the S3/S4's or the Standard/Classic with a humbucker in the bridge.

I'm looking for something that will cover the most musical territory and do it convincingly...that is, everything from Albert King to King Diamond to Dimebag Darrell to EVH, etc...non-floyd, not super pointy like my soloist.

Any good recommendations from guys who have already bought a Suhr??

having played a 86 Custom Shop Jackson Soloist over the course of a few years, the difference between that and the Modern I now own, is incompariable. the Jackson feels clunky, like you have to work to make it sound right whereas the Modern plays like a $2300 guitar should.

I would reccommend trying one out. The are very different guitars. My Jackson SL2H was very solid. It was very well built. I have a Suhr Guthrie. At first it felt odd to me because of how much lighter it is than the Jackson. I have had several Jacksons for reference. The Suhr has something going on the Jackson did not. The Jacksons are a little on the dead side when it comes to the mids because of the thick finish. My Modern resonates much more and has a livlier feel to it.

I wish I could. Doesn't seem to be any carriers of Suhr gear here in Kentucky. I'm having a hard time choosing what I want without the chance to play one.
