Suhr S4 volume starts at 3

When I roll the volume up on my S4 it seems to suddenly cut in at 3, in fact in a recent demo video you can see it happen as I set the volume to 3 announced it then played and there was no sound and had to roll it up a fraction. Is there an easy way to remedy this? I'm not very technical so layman's terms please

IS this clean settings or overdriven?
All electronics are original?
Yu could defeat the the treble compensation on the Volume pot but you will loose high end when turning down the volume.
