Hey guys,
For some reason I want a superstrat with a Floyd. Since this isnt going to be my main guitar but just something to play around with I don't want to break the bank.

So I was thinking of something from Charvel, Schecter Sun Valley, or Jackson Adrian Smith (X-Series)

kinda want to stay into the $5-900 range. Have any of you guys tried the Sun Valley or Adrian Smith models? Im going to go the new route cause I have a weird hangup about used guitars so if you guys have any recommendations I would love to hear them.

Does it have to be a Floyd? If so, why?

Not being salty - just curious and thought I'd give you a free bump.

Do you care about...
22 or 24 frets?
Pickup configuration... HS, HSS, HSH, or HH?
Neck joint: bolt on or neck thru?
Angled or straight headstock?
Rear or front rout?
Shape? (Strat vs Dinky vs PRS double-cut vs EBMM, etc)
Top/finish?

If you're indifferent most of those, then I'd suggest booking some time at your local guitar shop and playing every guitar that fits your budget and is under the "super-strat" genre. Jackson, Schecter, Ibanez, Charvel, Fender, PRS, etc... all have guitars that fall under the that umbrella with Floyd Rose trems.

I'm actually not aware of any major locking trems on new production guitars these days anyways... Kahler is extremely niche and all other locking trems I'm aware of are Floyd Rose and its variants (like Ibanez Edge, etc).

If any of those facets are important to you though, that could narrow down your search. Superstrat is a pretty broad category.

I have a MIM Fender Strat that I upgraded the bridge pickup on and those 6 point floating trems work great.

I also have a Schecter C1+ (hard tail) but I will attest that the quality/cost ratio is very good.

For what I paid new for it, my Charvel MIM is hard to beat

Several good options in that range, but I'd suggest going to the higher end for a couple of reasons. At the higher end, you can find several that have a Floyd Rose 1000/2000 instead of the Special. Also, better pickups (real Duncans in many cases).

Charvel Pro Mods as mentioned - great choice, they check these boxes and lots of guys (including myself) like the feel of the necks on them.
Jackson - lots of options there with again the better Floyd and good pickups.
LTD 87 Mirage Deluxe - lists at $999 but with a reasonable discount gets you in the range, again good Floyd and Duncan Distortion.
Kramer SM-1 - lists at $1049 but discount may just get you there on price. Fat neck, not the typical thin shredder but I had one this year and quality, tone, everything was particularly excellent.

I think Im going to go with a Charvel. They do seem to check all the boxes for what Im looking for. I tried one out yesterday and really enjoyed it.
