Wondering if any of you guys had experience with this neat little tool. Any tips for a guy that's looking into trying one?

I still have the screw holes in the back of the headstock where the Sustainiac transducer was installed for a few days or so. Cool toy but unnecessary for me and my style. I never tried any of the ones that were pickup sized. I didn't even know they were still in business. I thought Fernandes ate their lunch so to speak.

Nope, on the contrary. They just signed a big deal with Schecter and their Sustainiacs will be a regular addition to regular production guitars next year. This is why I'm thinking about getting one.

Exactly, The fernandes unit is older technology that the Sustainiac parted ways with awhile ago. The sustainiac is a much better unit that doesnt require you to chew up your guitar as much as the fernandes...

Im putting one in my Floyd Paul and Zachman put one in the Floyd Paul that I sold him..

The Sustainiac is the one to get. I had one in my LP for years. Worked flawlessly. I pulled it out when I installed a set of Aldrich's in the guitar. I guess I missed the neck pickup tone from that LP. The Sustainiac doubles as a neck pickup when not in use, but it lacks that big fat humbucker tone in the neck position.

The Sustainiac is fun as heck. I may wind up putting it in another guitar, maybe my Indie Gotoh Floyd LP. The installation is NOT fun at all. I've done 6 installs. I swore I'd never do another, but alas I may lol.

Yep, I hear that like all single coils it gives some pretty wicked feedback when played with a high gain amp. I've got a ISP Decimator on the way that should fix that. :)

You can set the Sustainiac in a way that will give the driver the tone of a nice 59 in the neck. It has something to do with wiring and the owner will walk you through it...

AS far as feedback goes, I didnt experience that unless it was used with an absurd amout of gain in harmonic mode

I was just reading on the Sustainiac site that the transducer is actually a humbucker(which I remembered from before) but can be set up to sound like a bright single coil. He also states that you can connect a wire to ground to get 3db more output. Mine is the Stealth Pro but it is at least 10 years old. Mine has a trim pot for the neck pickup(transducer) but even cranked it wasn't quite enough to sound like a 59 neck Maybe he has changed the design? I should email him to see if mine has the 3db extra output with the ground connection and where I hook this up in his circuit :)

I had no issues with feedback.

Resurrecting the thread to see if anyone has any experience / feedback on the Schecter sustainiac guitars?

I haven't found any local to try out. They just released the Hellraiser C-1 FR with a sustainiac, I think I may take the plunge.

No experience with the Sustainiac, but the Fernandes Sustainer system is awesome.

I bought a Fernandes Revolver Pro a couple years ago and the Sustainer was the best thing about the guitar :D

Sometimes when practicing I would take a patch cable and plug one end in to the guitar and leave the other end unplugged - infinite acoustic sustain!!! :D :D

I can't comment on the Sustainiac vs. Sustainer, but if the Fernandes is good enough for Vai it's good enough for me! :D

Edit: aaaaand I just realized this thread is ancient :p

I have always been interested in one but never gotten to try it. Some of my favorite players use the Fenandes system (Steve Hackett, Robert Fripp).

Weird, I just got a Jackson DK2S in a trade this weekend.
If you need it, it's a cool system. You can turn it off and choose between normal/harmonics mode, or a mix of both. You can pull off some pretty cool tricks with a tremolo and/or a pretty wet signal.
