If it's like the Rebel 30 there is a heatsink or something covering the preamp tubes with a spring inside. You need to rotate the metal piece until the notches line up and it can be pulled straight off. Is it like that with a the power tube too? I dunno if that is what you are looking at?

Thanks but i found out the solution :) !You just have to press down the clips et voila ;) !

Since i started this thread already and it's still there,i will use it ;) !I bought my Renegade -head almost two years ago (new).I kept it "stock" and some people here thought i was almost crazy to do so but i did like the sound as is and i didn't want to mess with it.It was not perfect or the best ever but,as a two channels amp,it was darn good :) !Anyway,i knew that,at some point in time,i would have to change tubes etc.The time has come.My clean channel has started to have some variations in volume and distortion. So,i decided to change V2 (preamp tube) and it looks like it was the right thing to do.I used a new JJ ECC83S.At the same time,i checked the Bias:it was perfect for the 5881's but just a bit cold for the EL34's (62MV),so i raised it to 72MV.The result is surprising:i don't like it :aww: .The distortion on channel 2 (EL34 side) is "stronger" but i did prefer when the bias was lower. And,on channel 1,i'm not happy either with the JJ.. my clean sound has lost some clarity and dimension. It's a bit "muffled" now..Next step:lower the EL34's bias to where it was and swap the JJECC83S for a Chinese 12AX7 (a M&B or a Shuguang) .I know i like the GT12AX7M's but i'm not sure if i could find some good ones anymore.Anyway,it"s surprising to see/hear the difference a single 12AX7 can make, even in V2 !

Quick update: 2 days ago i was called to do a small gig.I was a bit worried since the amp was still with the new JJ12AX7 V2 and a higher bias but,to my surprise, the sound was just spectacular  !
