Greetings :)

Is anyone going? I know it's a midwest thing and a lot of you are on the left and right sides, but I figure there are a few that are close enough to make the trip. Fortunately for me, it's only a 90-minute drive. I've gone the last three years and will be there again this year for at least one of the days. I typically spend a fortune, but the discounts make it worthwhile. The seminars and classes are great, too.

My shopping list so far:
* Ibanez Steve Vai JEM70VSFG

* Epiphone Masterbilt EF-500RCCE (or a Taylor 114CE or a Martin DSR2) - Depends on build quality and playability. The last time I compared them, the Epi more than held serve against the budget Taylor's and Martin's)

* Pro Tools 10 Upgrade (from PTLE 8)

* "Door-Buster Items" - last year they had SM57 and SM58 mic's for $50 each. There was a limit of two each per person, so I bought the limit. I'll do it again if it's avaiable.

Possibly:
* Gibson Midtown Custon in Vintage sunburst

* Gibson SG Jr 60's
It all depends on the fretboard color and feel...

Just putting my need/want list together with the regular everyday price for comparison when I get there :yes:

damn, looks like living in indiana DOES have its perks. i had a job offer at one time that would have required i move to fishers. seems like a nice place, but coming from new york, it'd be quite a transition (and as a single guy with no kids, the city's family friendly atmosphere really did nothing for me). plus the pay wasn't THAT tempting, so i passed.

oh, cruel fate.

I'm 15 minutes from Fisher's - it's actually a really nice place. I was in that area for lunch about an hour ago... :D

If I had money to spend I would probably try to make the trek but it's about 9 hours out so it's a no go. One of these times would like to go

I am only 2 and 1/2 hours away, but really have no gear budget, it would just be torture for me if I go....

I hear you - 9 hours would be a long trek. I'll probably never get to a NAMM show, so this is it for me. "Midwest NAMM" if you will.

They have great deals, but even if you have no budget for gear, the seminars, classes and demos are cool. The first year I went, I sat in 6 different Pro Tools classes. Last year I got to play a one-off Custom Shop Gibson Hummingbird (sweet!!). There are some really knowledgable people there and it's a cool facility.

I have never heard of the Sweetwater Gear Fest before, but now that I have, I think it might be worth a trip from WI.

It didn't sound like there were too many people close enough to Sweetwater to attend Gear Fest, but I thought I would post this anyway...

They have a "sale" on gift certificates for Father's Day where they will add 10% to the total that you buy, up to a maximum of $2,000. So, if you spend $2,000 on gift certificates, you will actually get $2,200. I checked with my sales rep and there is no problem turning around and using those gift certificates to buy items at Gear Fest which will already have deep discounts. This particular sale ends Sunday. Consider this a Public Service Announcement...

I just bought the maximum amount and plan to use it all during Gear Fest (and then some) :yes:

Well, I went to Gear Fest today with lots of things on the "wish" list. I was interested in five different electric guitars and three different acoustics and had the intention of coming home with one of each. I'd forgotten how much of a mad house it can be and, quite honestly, it was too hectic to really play and evaluate the guitars I wanted. I talked to my Sales Rep and think I'll be able to get close to the same discount level, so I'll go back when I can spend some quality time picking the right ones.

I did buy the expansion pack for both of my Eleven Racks and an upgrade to Pro Tools 10. There wasn't a huge price discount on the software, but it was reasonable, and I got $700 worth of plug-ins for free. I still have $1,400 on my gift certificate for future shopping :)
