Whats everyone running tube wise in their T/D module?

I'm running Tung Sol 12ax7's in both sockets, and I am very happy :). I have a bassman on order, and have the VX, so I can't wait to put the bassman side by side w/ the T/D.

The T/D has some sweeeeeeet tones. I use a Lexicon MPXG2, and the T/D w/ the Lexicon's Delay and verb....w/ a slight add of compression is to die for ;).

From Matt's description of the bassman, I'm even more excited to try it out next to that. Have you tried it next to the bassman?

Yep! It's really different, the Bman is thick and the T/D is spanky very cool!

I'm very excited to try mine once my Egnater is finished.

Does the deluxe side overdrive at all??

Yes,quite nice too!

+1 on the TD and B'man. Both are very nice Fender tones. The B'man Ch A is right there with my Alembic F2-B (basically a Fender Bassman pre). I've been swapping Tung Sol's and Sovtek WA's and so far I like Sovtek's in the TD and TungSol's in the B'man.

@Joe:
Yes, TD Ch B (Deluxe channel) breaks up nicely from gritty to overdrive.

Hey Joe how much longer :D

Two months roughly...Gonna be a tough wait!!

-Joe
Two months,no sweat.What modules you gett'n?

T/D and SL2 with the order, BUT I'm thinking of ordering an EG5 before she arrives just so I'll have her on hand. :D

I think I can cover a lot of ground with those modules, quite possibly the only ones I will need.

That's what we all said.......  :D ;)

Funny that word need. When it arrives it will be the word want! :D

Hahaha I don't doubt it. But, these are the only ones I'm truly interested in right now.

Possibly an E-Rect or Bassman later, but I'm sure these will satisfy for the time being.

-Joe

yeah...i thought 4 would be enough ;). now i have 6...w/ a 7th on the way!

there's never enough ;).

speaking of T/D, I just did the tube-swap-boogie this weekend with it. Tubes tried:
Tung Sol RI
Mullard RI
Penta Labs Chinese 9th gen
Sovtek 12AX7WA
JJ Ecc83s
JJ Ecc803s
Jan 5751
GT12AX7R
Engl Ecc83

I mixed them up and swapped them out blind one by one, going only by tone. After it was done, turned out the Jan 5751 (not very surprising to me) was my favorite due to it sounding the most 'musical' to my ears with my gear.

What did surprise me - second favorite was the Sovtek 12AX7WA. Others seemed harsh (Chinese) or weak (Tung Sol) or flat or dark or whatever.

Doing it blind is very important. I tried this a couple of weeks ago without doing it blind and my results were a bit different - preconceived notions, biases and all that.

So I still have V2 to play this game with. And then my other modules and then finally the chassis tubes. Fun but time consuming!

Sadly I had to return the T/D to it's rigthful owner,God I love that tone! :(
