I've built an iso cab, a HUGE one.

My ears are fried so I will have to listen to it more seriously tomorrow, what you guys think?
I think this is the first iso cab ever that I might actually find useful.

There's no meat with those potatoes.

Edit: Unless that's what you're going for, then hey, do it to it.

I can't hear much, I need a few days of rest form ear torture. I'm pretty sure you are right.
I'm changing a lot of things, I need to get used to my new setup.

Would you define "meat"? :)

Hey man,

To my ears... and keep in mind I just got home from practice so my ears probably aren't the best either right now, it's kinda thin - just missing to me some low end and lower mids. I'd say the other frequencies are probably about right actually.

Let me know when you get another clip up after you rest your ears - having audio burn out sucks :(

Keep on rockin

Lower mids, cabinet feel, it sounds like it's coming from a 1x12 ya know. I've heard reducing very slightly at 1khz can make a 2x12 sound like a 4x12, maybe try that and bump the lower mids.

agreed, may want to reposition the mic away from the cone (aka: off axis). otherwise it's rockin!

Sounds like plastic to me...too much treble. Needs more "thump". Typical Shure SM 57 frequencies, too.
Maybe move the mic away from the cone, more to the side of the speaker. That always helps.
Or try something completely different:
I recently bought two ribbon mikes from Thomann (t.bone RB-500) and they sound so much softer and faaaaat. They cost only 111 Euros. A well known german producer recommended them, so don't shy away from buying chinese made ribbon mikes. Sure, the Royer 121 we used for our record sounded better, but 111 Euros? Maybe there are cheap ribbon mikes in the U.S., too. These ribbons seem to be THE solution for taming aggressive speakers and turning them into a smooth sounding, fat, er..., thing. :D
I was really surprised- totally different from what our ears are used to.

Another problem might be the mix: guitars way too loud. If they sit better in the mnix, the bass guitar could compensate for too much treble.

OK, fellas, take 2 is up, this time with bass guitar. Criticize again please.

To me it still sounds out of balance, sounds like a VH4 with a cold you know, stuffy nose. BUT, I think it fits the weirdness of that riff really. As far as a personal preference, for me, I would balance it out a bit more and give it some ass. I like my tone like I like my women, great top, great middle, and nice ass...mmmm. Flat ass ruins a good woman as far as my 2 cents goes.

Herbert is better so far, the VH4 is coming off so damn stuffy for some reason man.

Do I miss low end on Herby too?

Yea, I always had no good luck capturing CH3 VH4. Trying to overcome it now.

Take 2 - plenty effin awesome dude. I may need to look at getting me an Isocab.

Steve,
This is not a regular production isocab. Most of isocabs I've tried sound boxy. If you decide to build one let me know, I'll share some details.

I think I need to check the bias on my VH4, something ain't right.

I heard that Rivera makes an awesome production Iso cab - much better than the Roland. I may hit you up on some plans though. Which speaker did you put in yours?

What's wrong with the VH4?

My 2 OS Bogner 2x12s   The recordings are made with Bogner OS 2x12 V30/75 with a Shure SM7b on the v30.

You could fit 2 4x12 there too. It's an isobox, no speaker mounted inside. Basically like a small sized vocal booth.

What's wrong with the VH4?

I don't know. I don't get that low mid compression that I like, it seems like power tubes don't push the speakers the right way.
