Tell me about KT77's and EL34's

the 77s are a bit more open voiced, more headroom so to speak. sound similar to 6550s instead of 6l6 tubes. not as early break up, more of a late 70's early 80s marshall sound.
what are you putting them into?

I actually own both for my splawn. But that being said, each EL34 tube works different for different amps. I tried the KT77s in my buddy's TSL and they sounded like crap. The best JJs in it were the E34Ls. But I like my KT77s in the splawn. So, you really need to go on the Metro forums and see what the guys playing the 2203 have in theirs. That will probably save you some headache. :)

you would have to rebias not matter what you put in. (you should do it whenever you change tubes. )
as far as changing out anything else, the anwser is no. the KT77 can be dropped into any amp that takes el34's afaik, I would say that for that amp, you would get quite a bit closer to the late 70's early 80s sound when marshall was putting 6550s in on our side of the pond.
They're cheap enough, give em a try, if you dont like them you can always put in a nice set of jj el34s
