I have a 101B that differs from most aI have seen as it has an attached power cord, a 3 symbol (not numerical) serial number and when I changed headshells this weekend I noticed the transformer oposite the input side was a Mercury magnetics. Is this an early model? What else can you tell me about this amp? I A/B'd it aginst my 6L6 20th and honestly I liked it at volume at least as well if not a little better. Clean is great on this 101B as well. Still working with it but at practice yesterday it sounded great for some of the covers we do, STP, Velvet Revolver, Chicken Foot, VH etc etc. Any additional info would be great. Thanks, Bob

The 3 symbol s/n and attached power cord just indicate an earlier XTC. I'm guessing the transformer blew and someone replaced it with the MM.

When in doubt, run this past Charley at Bogner HQ - he'll be back to you ASAP on these types of ?'s.

My guess is as has been stated - it's an earlier model (symbolized serial #), the transformer sounds like a retrofit.

Yeah, the early XTC's had handwound transformers, wound by the man himself.
