I typically play Gibson Les Pauls and love them and always liked the Ltd guitars (never owned any ESP guitars).

I know they have a few variations of pickups but for the most part are like modernized Les Pauls with a slightly different feel. I want something lighter and different and modern sounding so.think this will fit the bill. Just curious which one you guys dig.

Compared to a LP the Eclipse is lighter, thinner, faster neck & more modern sounding. Also better QC and stays in tune. In short a good Eclipse is better in every way EXCEPT- and this is a big one- they sound like a more modern guitar and do not sound like a LP.

My old bandmate had an E-II Eclipse that I loved. My personal main guitar is an E-II baritone. Love it.

I know a thing or two about Eclipses. They're everything you're looking for. My average Eclipse weighs in slightly below 8lbs. Even the "full thickness" (Les Paul thickness) guitars are under 9.

The regular thickness Eclipses I have retain a fair amount of what a Les Paul does. With the same pickups, I find the Eclipse misses a bit of lower mids. One big difference between the LTD and E-II guitars is that the E-II (and ESP Standard Series) have actual maple tops (the figured ones have a veneer) but the LTDs are just a veneer over the mahogany.

Questions? I'm happy to help.
