Any acutal clips of the modules themselves? Which ones does he use? Can these modules be used with a Randall head?

Jim

Jeff posted awhile back that he is using the VX, SL, SL2, and the XV which is supposedly a modded EG5.

He is using a stock Sl and Vx. He as a custom called Gretchen and a custom called XV. Gretchen is based off the COD and XV is based of EG 5.

Do you happen to know which module he used to get the ton on the track Freedom from Oger Tones? That is sick tone!

I recall reading that Ogre Tones is almost all Randall Top Boost and XTC modules. He used the MTS stuff in Wagener's studio for that recording.

Nice. I damn near bought a Pete modded XTC yesterday but opted for the Mr Scary. I will eventually buy one I'm sure.

Wow, check this tone.

I want that tone. I am thinking a modded EG-5 may do the trick.
Will we see a Ty module in the near future????

On the XTC, I think the Randall modules sound more harsh than the Egnater modules, even the modded modules. The EGgie modules are smoother and and more organic to my ears.

Go get a Dual Rectifier if you want that tone! :)

ehehehehehehe

I hope we see some Ty Tabor modules soon. I really would like to get a "gretchen module".

I have owned new and old Rectifiers and that doesn't sound too much like one to me.

Same here. But i saw him on that tour, and by god ( I have no clue how ... well he does have magic fingers...and he can make ANYTHING sound good )...but he had killer tone with a rackmount Dual Rectifier! All of Dogman was recorded with a Dual Rectifier. I've played numerous rectifiers and I really can't stand that tone. But he made it kill!

Eric

The comments say that audio was taken between 2000 and 2002. Are you guys sure he was using the Dual Rec then? I didnt think he was still using it by then.

On a side note, what do you guys recommend as some good albums by King's X? I had a few years back but lost them and can't recall the albums. I want to grab some more!

I think first five albums are definitely worth checking out. Especially, the first four are the epitome of the King's X sound to my ears, the fifth "Dogman" being a bit more grunge style stuff. I probably like the first one, "Out of the Silent Planet" the most. That being said, "Dogman" is also very cool albeit a bit different.

Dogman is by far my favorite King's X album, it is also their darkest and heaviest. My 3 favorites are actually:

Dogman
Gretchen Goes to Nebraska
XV

Gretchen is one of their earliest and XV is their latest. Honestly, the Best Of CD is a great place to start. Its got most of the classics.

Faith, Hope, Love just plain rocks. Got to see them play most of that album acoustically in Houston when it first came out. Saw them in Houston again this year with Extreme, Egnater's everywhere :) And they plain old rocked. That was along night and a long drive home.

Out of the Silent planet...it was the first CD I bought (couldn't afford a CD player for a long time :D )
