I know the last couple of Albums have been a 5150III with Matching Cabinet. Eric Does use a T.C. Electronic Delay Pedal which is on all the time. He also uses a Boost for certain parts. Pick ups wise he uses the EMG 81 & Sometimes the SD Distortion.

On their pre-Ritual stuff, Eric used JCM800s. I preferred that tone. Never really liked Skolnick's tone, but he's one of my favorite players of all time. Shouldn't he be using the Budda Precepter nowadays?

As someone else said, the new stuff is the 5150III. The Lombardo record (I forgot the name, but is kick ass) has a recording journal available online. I believe that was produced by James Murphy.

The Buddha head is long gone however guitarcenter has a used one for 899. They are for sure using Kempers now. I'm curious if they are using V30's or gt12 75s? Currency I found a cab with v30's for 200 dollars I'm trying to decide between a marshall a jcm dual super lead or a rectifier forbit. I know what a single rectifier can do but I'm not sure if it can do the more 80s liquid metal tone the marshall might be able to get.

This. 5153. Regular model.

They used Mesa Rectos with V30s and EMGs/Seymour Duncan pickups for a long time before the switch to 5153s, so with your current setup you should be able to get in the right ballpark!

Awesomeness thank you so much that tone is so bad ass

Marshall/tube screamer & Marshall/ ada mp1- Marshall jmp1 also ...early days
Mesa rectifier straight in in the later 90s
Then they were using Marshall Mode 4 & EVH 5153
Then Buddha Sig amp & evh
Now Kempers.

What kind of marshall will get me that tone? More importantly what speakers?

I'm not sure exactly I've been mostly listening to the brother hood of the snake album lately a greatest hits album the one with meets the eye on it which was remastered or something. I know it's vague but that's whatn I've been listening too.

BOTS is lethal !!! Kemper!

If your going to use Marshall your going to have to give it juice !

V30's is what I'd use.
Practice What You Preach is a JCM800 with a tube screamer in front of it.
Souls Of Black, same.
Ritual is a Mesa Mark IV.
Mid 90's - most of 2000's is a Mesa Triple Rec.
Formation Of Damnation is a JVM210 head.
then the switch to the EVH 5150III head,
now the Kempers for live.

Skolnick was most an ADA MP1 into a JCM 900 or a Marshall Plexi.
When they got back together, it was a JCM 2000, or sometimes a Marshall Mode 4. Then came the Budda head, and the Kempers for live now.

By the way, James Murphy mentioned he recorded his parts using a Rectifier for rhythm parts, and a Bogner Ecstasy for leads. Both his rhythm and lead tone were amazing.
Testament guitars tone on The Gathering is one of my all time favorite!

Fuck I would be all over that Budda for 899 if I didn't just buy an amp.
