What's the best MIDI controller for the VH4 ?

Diezel Columbus, Tech 21 Midi Mouse, MIDI Moose, Voodoo Lab Ground Control, Rocktron XChange, All Access (too expensive !) or other ?

Thank you ! ;)

I have a columbus to work at the vh4 and herbert.
I love it.
But that are just my 2 cents.

It depends on your needs and maybe from your other equipment you want to control. I use VoodooLab GCP and I am very happy with it.

Columbus. It does everything.

I wish it had an alphanumeric display so I could incorporate it into my other stomps and so forth, Eventide and the like, but otherwise - built bomber, dead simple, and very solid.

It depends on what you really need.

Do you need 5 or more preset buttons on one bank?

Do you care about metal vs plastic construction etc?

What about button placement and design (big feet, button vs paddle etc)?

Do you need the volume/expression pedals?

I can go on and on, if you're just looking for a basic and cheap midi pedal, try the Behringer 1010 (super cheap off Ebay) 1st and go from there. I know someone with the Voodoo GCP and it's a solid piece but more than he really needed.

Rocktron MidiMate is a good controller, GCP is really good, All Access is worth the money IMHO. Rocktron MidiMate has a good display for stage.

This!

I use a Tech21 Midi Moose because I wanted direct access to 5 sounds.
Space between buttons could be a little bit bigger, but thats nothing I would pay for 200 Euros more.

The ROCKTRON PATCHMATE LOOP 8 FLOOR is very interesting !
Is it compatible with the VH4 to control chanels ?

Thanks :)

Instead of giving you a direct answer I drive you towards learning:
What do you think, why would the Rocktron be compatible/incompatible?

...and my motivation here is not to be an a-hole, but to make you think and learn.

I think is compatible.
But I want to be sure before spend a lot of money ! ;)

Correct. I don't own the Rocktron, but I am 99.99% sure that it is compatible.

What you are looking for is a MIDI-controller that is able to store presets and is able to send MIDI command messages out of it. And yes, the very Rocktron product is able to do that.

I use the Rocktron Midimate since 10 years together with the VH-4 and never had a problem. It is phantom powered by the VH-4, you can connect an expression pedal to use with your effects and it has a nice big display.
