Hi folks!
I'm just building a new pedal board and sorting out cables. I was gonna just run a long midi cable as per usual. But then I was pondering what the columbus XLR port on my Herbert/Hagen does since an XLR cable it's a bit more roadworthy.
Is it basically just the 3 used pins of standard 5-pin midi on those 3 pins that I could use for non-columbus things by building an XLR -> MIDI DIN cable into the side of my board?
If so, I presume it also carries phantom power for a columbus on it too though at least. Can phantom power on those pins just universally be ignored due to the MIDI specification of a standard MIDI output port, or could it damage the thing it's plugged into (either a voodoo labs pedal switcher, or RJM Mastermind)?
