I just put one in my Charvel clone. I'm pretty impressed. Output-wise it's probably about the output of a hot true single-coil. Tone-wise it's single-coilesque... close enough for me. It sounds very pleasant. Very warm midrange, nicely balanced. Not too much of anything in the eq. Matches nicely with the SD Custom I have in the guitar. Pretty happy with it.

would you say the cruiser and custom would be a good combo to go into my Musikraft alder strat?

What kind of tones are you looking for? If you like Andy Timmons' tone, the Cruiser is perfect. It sounds like his tone.
The custom is a nice even-sounding pickup. Hot PAF style. Capable of heavy tones, capable of 80's rock tones. Very articulate.

My band is very much 80's rock/metal. And I love that timmons lead tone, really smooth.

In the bridge I like an aggressive clear and thick tone, like doug aldrichs live rythmn tone.

Do you have any clips of the custom through a marshall type amp?

Then you'd like the cruiser in the neck. I got the Cruiser BRIDGE version DP187 like Timmons uses.
The Custom or Custom 5 should be good. What about the Suhr Aldrich humbucker?
