...should only be played with single coils. After getting a Strat, I seriously may never plug a HB equipped guitar into it.

Actually, until i finally played thru a Diezel (VH4), i was rarely satisfied with any humbucker-distorted tones i got out of any other amp. A lot of time was spent and wasted tweaking eq settings, which always changed depending on volume, which in turn changed with setting. When i switched to s/c, i saw the light! complex chords now didnt sound like utter confusion!

best thing about Diezel amps is that there is no bad setting on it. no matter where any pot is turned, everything is useable, at any volume. i like to describe them as 'all-tube analog-modeling' amplifiers to neophytes as the Cliffs Notes on Diezel amps - You can cop essentially any tone with them!

i say this each time a pickup convo comes up, but P90's have the tone i've always expected/imagined humbuckers should have.

I'd take my '57 Classic equipped LP over whatever single coil any day ....add to that the Washy N4 with genuine Bill Lawrence L500 and I won't look back.....

As a matter of fact - that's all matter of taste, a matter of substance over the form, yada yada yada... thence YMMV ...
 
I actually like em both. I'd say that sc's are more "open" sounding at louder volumes, but hb's are better for the music I play at lower volumes, which is pretty much all I play at. Having said that I really like the EMG89 - best of both worlds imo.

BK do single coils too ya know, and they kick ass. Got Irish Tours in a strat and Blackguards in a Tele, sweeeeet...

Done. I had Cold Sweats in my SG I offed for my Strat.
