The ESP Phoenix

Hey Jim-

I own the LTD Phoenix 1000 version. Yes, it is well balanced. I have my strap connected to where the buttons came on it and I can clap my hands over my head without worrying about the headstock dropping.

Very nice playing guitar. Definitely easier playing than a true Firebird IMO. I put an Arcane PX100 (Phil X sig humbucker size p90)in the bridge. It's a tad on the bright side, probably due to the ebony fretboard and neck thru maple neck/body. Definitely worth checking out if you like the design and don't wanna spring almost twice as much on the ESP.

I've never personally played the ESP version. I bought my LTD from a trusted friend who owns a guitar store. Main differences he said were
LTD: Earvana compensated plastic nut, ESP locking tuners
ESP: Bone nut, Gotoh locking tuners, case included in price
He actually said he liked the play of the LTD better. YMMV :D

Have played...Do like, and yes: balanced and comfortable.

Very cool looking guitars! I've always wanted a Firebird (vintage Gibson or MIJ Epiphone) but one of these might suffice.

FYI, they are 25.5'' scale, not 24.75''.
Yeah. I would still have to get my hands on one before I would buy.

I played the LTD 401 Phoenix last week at the local music store and liked it a lot. Didn't plug it in though, but the one they had there sounded pretty good acoustically as well.

Was it heavy?

I don't know. That cutaway looks odd to me. I think I like the new Washburn firebird a little better.

Mine's not heavy at all.

Don't think the ESP version is on the ESP site, just the LTD. Wonder if it's discontinued?????
