OK, I sold my old Herbert with EL34BSTR some time ago & always regretted it!
I've been chasing that Tone ever since, I tried everything else.
Engl, VHT, Bogner, CAA, Elmwood, Soldano, even other Diezels (Einstein 100, VH4)
All great Amps in their own right, but still not a Herbert.

I've had this about two weeks now (Herbert 6550 Tubes) and all I can say is
It's Damn Good to be back!!! I will keep this Herbert 'Till the end of my days.
The chase is over  I found the best match sonically, for the Herbert in my
Dual amp Rig (Stereo). The Bogner XTC 101B has the best complimenting tone to my ears
and I couldn't be more satisfied.

I'm curious to know what you guys Dig as a compliment amp to your Herbert. ;)

Inca. As of the moment I like my VHT CLX as a mate with the herby, but I am also waiting for the new kt88 loaded uber in white it may take the place of the vht. And if that happens the vht may go up for sale. And welcome back to the herby club. I love all my amps but if Ihad to only keep 1 it would be the Herby hands down.

VH4 is all around great mix with Herbert. It gives it a little more low mids & more highs. Very big sound, but depending on your band situation the combo may take way too much space.

Mesa Triple rec is another great option for metal, nu metal, heavy rock, alternative content. You get a great low mid grind from the Herbert & another higher mid grind from the triple rec. Again, if you have a second guitar player in your band, this combo can make him very uncomfortable.

101b - eh, it's OK, but I'd rather mix it with a VH4, than the Herbert.

My experience should mean nothing to you though, we run different settings, different guitars, different cabinets/speakers, so experiment yourself. I see people like mixing Uberschalls with Herberts, I personally thought it was a bad combination.

If you want my opinion, the greatest amp to mix with the Herbert is another Herbert.

 I want a Bogner Twin Jet too!!! ;)
But I'm holding out for the Fortin Natas, I have a feeling that is gonna be a WINNER!
I had an 07 VHT UL, and it sonically fought the sound of other amps.
It bothered the Shit out of me, why won't it just settle in.
Then I think I figured it out, it just didn't get on well with Celestion V30's.
It Killed on it's own Cranked up, but just didn't like my V30 Loaded cabs.
I think the Twin Jet is gonna be a "Home Run" that will sound killer together.

    No Doubt!
I like mixing the Sonic spectrum up a little bit, ya know.
2 Herbie's would sound like Armageddon  but I enjoy
the mix of two different voiced amps, that compliment one another.
I did the Herbert/VH4 combination before, again KILLER.... but the
voicing was too similar.
The thing that was crucial to me is, both the Herbert and XTC
have about the same level of Sag. Both very Chewy with an insane,
smooth, Liquid Lead tone. The SLO, OD100SE+ and VHT UL were too tight for
the mixing the pair, you could hear the obvious difference. One would stop on
a dime and the Herbert was a bit looser.
The Diezel/ Bogner combination is my favorite, I ran the Uber before
with Herbie and that was fantastic too. I just prefer the voicing of the XTC
and the 3 channel for each amp.
