Hmm, no fx-loop... PASS.
Sure it wasn't in the original either, but so wasn't the bias section.

As a teenager I always wanted the Sovtek version, because I thought it would give me hard rock/metal Marshall roar on a budget and it had the Russian thing going on... Little did I know how little distortion it would give at humanly acceptable volumes. o_O:p
This seems to be geared more to the bluesy/Hendrix-y players, who don't need delays and chorus in an fx-loop.

EDIT: guess I was after the Mig-60 at the time...that one has more gain...but judging by the videos, it has more of that indierock distortion sound than something I'd like.

Definitely a great modding platform; they sound 80% there compared to an 800. But the appeal was that you could find them for 500, ship em out for a mod and you're just over a grand. I'll wait and see what these list for.

inb4 a bunch of guys get these and add a master volume mod

I would want to see some gut shots before I would consider picking one up to mod. I mean the jet city and origin amps seem to have a good foundation but I wouldn't take a chance.

@burger any interest in these?

I owned an original Sovtek Mig 50, and it was a harsh sounding amp, nothing like my 2203. YMMV..........

Mod platform maybe a yes but your foundation usually dictates your final product when modding. Who knows... the new incarnation might sound great so I will reserve my final judgement.

I personally dont think they sound anything like a JCM800, maybe the circut is similar? To me they sound way more ratty and fuzzy. A lot of guys in indie bands around here starting using them in the late 90s and they never sounded good. Never really jived with them but, like I said, I dont know the circut so can't comment on modding them.

I'd want to see some gut shots too before committing

I didn't want to say something at first, but my money is on @Racerxrated actually meaning to say the Mig-60.
THAT one is based on a 2203...the Mig-50 mos definitely ain't.
