..Fucking rules! God damn! I just got my signed copy yesterday, and holy fuck is it awesome. Sits all over Miasma, for sure. The guitar tone is MASSIVE! I love it. Anyone else here heard it?

Is it anything like Unhallowed? I couldn't really get into Miasma the only song that stood out was Dave Goes To Hollywood. Unhallowed was tight though, all those tracks had something different to them.

i "acquired" it a few days ago. wasn't really feeling it. nowhere near unhallowed but i wasn't a huge fan of miasma. seems like they went a bit downhill after that first drummer bailed. i do like the high screams on nocturnal but he doesn't switch to the gutturals enough. that was a big thing that i liked about unhallowed. the production, obviously, is way better on nocturnal so the guitar tone is improved. what amps they using?

i prolly just need to hear it a few hundred more times before i start diggin it...sumthin i never eally did with miasma. now that i have an ipod and a job that i can just listen all night, i'll have more opportunity to do that. on a side note, i have soooo much music right now, it's disgusting. it's hard to get into sumthin when i don't like it right off the bat.

i haven't heard the whole cd yet, but the couple tracks i've heard are sick. the guitar tone is great. i love that slinky grind they get. i'm in the minority, i liked miasma quite a bit more than unhallowed. some of the riffs on miasma were pretty tough to pull off at speed.

I like it more than Unhallowed (right now, anyway) because the band just seems to have more confidence. Plus, the tone is 1000x better.

I do wish it was a LOT longer. It's only about 34 minutes or so off the top of my head, which pisses me off. The new JFAC record is only about 30 too, and that really sucks. Seems like it's not worth paying the 14 bucks or so for 30 min. of music

I wish it had more low, guttural screams too, but whatever, it's good shit either way. I wish they did the overdubs with 1 high and 1 low voice more often, I LOVE that shit

i've got tons of albums that are short. sometimes i want more and sometimes it's fine...depends on the content. some albums (slayer - reign in blood & hatebreed - perseverance come to mind) are short but leave me satisfied. the new jfac would be cooler if there was more. you heard the new a life once lost? it's sounding pretty good right now...great tone as well.

dude...is it just me or does he almost sound like cradle of filth?...especially when i hits the super highs? weird.

I love it. Deffinatly carried on from where misma left off but not too much new ground.

but this album is

for me anyway :D

How are the leads on the new album? I've always felt they could step it up a notch there.

Much better....still short and sweet and lacking vibrato. Like most solos in this genre.

I agree..they are much better, but lacking feel. No vibrato what-so-ever. I like John's style though, it's almost melodic..i really dig it.

ya the lack of vibrato is on purpose....not a lack of good technique. I like what he does.

I just heard What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse, but I loved it. I hopefully will pick up the whole album.

The vocals sound a bit different and I miss the lows but its still great stuff.

John is endorsed by ENGL but he uses Mesas a lot, but I never knew it was 5150's

I've heard the new one is all 5150, but i doubt that for some reason..

Why is that?....sounds like a 5150 to me
John said it was a 5150 so im quite certain that is what it is. There might be other things mixed in at times. No matter what is used live many heavy bands stick to the 5150 in the studio.

5150's are the "old reliable" for almost every metal band. I've seen so many people using them...Samoth uses one, Vogg from Decapitated uses one, Carcass used em, Jeff Loomis has, Suffocation did, the list goes on. They can really do so much.

I just got it and started listening, it seems good so far. In Miasma they got wayyyy too technical with their stuff, and this one seems a little more relaxed, the solo in "Nocturnal" is probably the best thing they've ever wrote
