This weekend I reconfigured my pedal board for the Eventide Timefactor (xmas present) and Modfactor (post-xmas present to myself :D ), and managed to get my Rocktron MidiMate controller to talk to those pedals AND my M4-RT2/50 setup.

I found that the MidiMate was able to do exactly what I wanted - to be able to create separate, mutually exclusive program patch ranges for each of my three MIDI-addressable devices.

This way, I can, for example, switch the M4 between modules while leaving the settings for the Modfactor and Timefactor unaffected (because they aren't receiving any program change commands), and similarly switch presets on the stomp boxes without affecting either each other or the amp setting.

I know that Eric, for one, likes to have his presets interrelated but I wanted mine independent and I'm happy that the MidiMate supports being able to do it this way. I'll likely end up with some favorite amp/stompbox combinations that I go to a lot and eventually I'll set up presets that give me those at a single patch location. For now I'm still experimenting with the sounds. It's an embarassment of riches, I tell ya.

I decided to put the Timefactor and Modfactor in a loop between the M4 and the RT2/50, even though they are physically located on the pedalboard. The wah pedal, OCD, and Boss OD-2 are running into the front of the M4. This combination sounds great.

I'm a happy camper. :)

Cool! Glad you got it worked out.......

If I have much more than guitar/pedal/amp, I get confused!!!

Talk about confused....I started programming the controller, got about three patches in, and my head started spinning.  I grabbed a quadrille pad and mapped out the whole mess.

Good Job!!!

I run the M4 and MOD 50 together through a GCX and control it with a GCP. The MOD 50 powers the M4. My only compliant is that I can't independently switch in pedals with the GCP. I have to set up patches that have the module and the pedal. It'd be nice to be able to use pedals on the fly, but it's still pretty sweet this way.

set up your gcp to have 8 instant access buttons and 4 program change buttons.

You don't have to send pc updates to all midi devices with the gcp either
Pm me if have questions. I can help u out

What I discovered when I started programming the MidiMate is that you can just not use the primary patch set (the one that corresponds to the primary patch number on the unit's display). The primary set is either always on or always off, and if it's on it's going to be sending out that primary patch number and the M4 mutes if it gets anything higher than PC #8. Disabling the primary set still leaves you with 5 sets of patch commands available per primary patch number, and each of those sets can be turned on or off individually on each primary patch location.

Pretty cool.
