I paid for a Sound Clinic Climax preamp on Feb 20.

I was suspicious of his bad feedback. My gut said to run away, but:

we exchanged like 10 emails.
The item is so obscure, it's not an ideal scam item
I needed the item
It was a really good price (not "too good to be true")

so, it's still not here, and he won't respond to my emails.  :gethim:

I just looked at his feedback... did you contact the guy who said he ripped him off for $1050?!?

I would have used an escrow service with that kind of feedback... :(

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPS pulled up like 5 minutesafter I posted this.

It's here, and it looks SWEEEET.

I can't wait to try it.

also. I tried to contact the guy who said he got ripped off. nothing.

The seller explained himself, and it sounded like a disgruntled buyer with a malfunctioning amp. not like it didn't show up.

Too bad, I can't play it until around 5 or 6 pm.

I can't wait. I've always been under the impression this was like a holy grail.

from the "tubefreak" website:

The Climax S3 is a preamp designed and built by the German company Sound Clinic. They repair and customizing (tube) audio and guitar gear. With this design they tried to make the best possible: all tube design, AEG branded Telefunken ECC83 tubes, highes quality materials, PIO capacitors, shielded transformers, extra wide PCB paths, closed pots, audio transformers at the outputs to prevent groundloop problems, soft startup (slowly applies voltages to the tubes), etc. etc
