Howdy, thinking about a Suhr guitar .. Has anyone had any expierence with the Silent single coil system ? I was wondering if anyone noticed any tone loss with it ? Also I also am not too sure what kind of neck to pick in regards to slim , what radius etc... I live in Alberta Canada, not really near any dealers and also play left hand so it is not like I can actually try one .

Also has anyone played a carve top and a standard , and could tell me what they like better as far as sound and playability ? Thankyou ..I have been looking to buy one for over a year , but am reluctant because there is no way I can play one . I have only ever owned a G&L legacy and a Line6 Variax .

Has anyone played a Suhr with the locking tremolo ? Are there any issues etc...

Thanks alot

I use the silent backplate....it works awesome! I have never noticed any tone loss. If there is any slight difference at all, it's way better than having 60-cycle hum in my opinion. I've installed them for quite a few customers, including some "big shots", and everyone has loved it.

I don't have the BPSSC but I have owned a Suhr with a locking trem and the Gotoh that they use is a great trem, no issues here

I have a Fender American Deluxe (HSS) w/noiseless, a Fender Beck Sig (SSS) w/noiseless and a Suhr S4 (HSS) w/bpss -- the latter blows both fenders away and is tone-full to the point I don't deserve its awesomeness.

But I'm keeping it anyway.

Setting aside tone quality, how does the level of noise reduction compare with, say, stacked single-coils? Is it very dependent on your orientation with the noise source?

It sounds quieter than humbuckers. really! If you put your guitar right next to an amp or other noise source, it will still give you noise like any other pup. Where it shines is with the in-between positions with a three single coil guitar because you use a standard single in the middle position instead of a RWRP. Here's a pic of my Classic with the backplate:

no tone loss as far as i can tell. if you were to compare the tone of a suhr, to an american deluxe strat, you would laugh! (i know i did)

definitely need to get the BPSSC !
