Anyone else do this? I mostly play with humbuckers and am wondering about headroom......

...I mean I so rarely need a clean tone it seems crazy to have a T/D doing virtually now't.

My M4:

VX
SL2
EG5
Erect.

My cleans kick ass, but I wish I had a b-man too :(

If you want headroom and you use humbuckers and dont have a light touch, you don't want the Vx. There isnt much "clean" you will get out of it unless you crank the channel master and keep the gain real low (which will cause you send level problems with anything in your FX loop not to mention make level balancing with high gain modules somewhat of a pain). Id recommend the BMan if you want headroom but like your tone more like Vx than T/D.

I traded my Vx for a BMan primarily due to lack of headroom and could not be happier. BMan is actually my favorite Clean/Crunch module.

Interesting perspective..I kind of wish I had a B'Man but soooo short of $ right now ;-/

I understand man. I am with Matt here on the VX. The VX is a great module, but its headroom is quite low.
I had the bassman for a few days, but i'm thinking of getting another to match up w/ the SL, as I think that might be a good choice of modules to match up with. Friggin swapping!!!

Thanks,
Eric

+1 on the VX channel A headroom...

I didn't realize how much the output level (I run the gain at 12:00 and vol at 3:00) was affecting the loop until I bought a Modfactor last week and the "peak" light was staying lit on channel A!

Running it much lower than 2:00 and you lose the unity volume of the other channels--especially the EG5...I mean, you just don't MESS with the EG5!!
