Thinking about going Diezel, but I'm concerned.

**LET ME PREFACE THIS BY SAYING I AM NOT BASHING DIEZEL AMPS IN ANY WAY, NOR AM I TRYING TO STIR UP ANY TROUBLE!**

I've been wanting to pick up an Einstein or Herbert, but it seems like I've seen a lot of people having reliability issues when it comes to tubes, fuses, MIDI, etc.

I play Splawn amps, and while I love the tone, I want something with a more fluid lead sound...I plug into an Einstein or Herb and BAM! There's THE tone.

However, I've not had any issues with my Splawns after quite a while and have seen next to no one have issues with them. So I have to say I feel more confident in them thus far over the Diezels.

I play a lot of shows, and have plans to play over 120 shows this coming year. I really need something I can take out with me and have total confidence in it.

Can anyone offer any reassurance?

Thanks.

I have played over 200 shows with my VH4 and have had no issues at all. get one!!!

I can personally say from working on Diezel amps is that they are seriously over engineered.
There is no way Diezel can be responsible for preamp or power tube failure, but when problems
like screen grid or plate load resistors get fried, the VH4 is a dream to work on. The PCB is the thickest
in the industry and uses all hole through plated circuit pads. If some cheap Chinese or Russian power tubes
take out a few resistors, the VH4 is a dream to work on. I have worked on Mesa IIC+'s, MK III's and IV's, Marshall's, Soldano's,
Newer Fender and Engl amps. The VH4 and Herbert are so well thought out, it makes them much easier, to me, than most amps to tech out and repair.

Long live the Peter's !!!!

If you're serious about that "issue", just get two of 'em. No kidding. AFAIC I would put my trust on Peter's work for only one, but who knows what can happend during transportation etc..

Btw not to be an asshole or rude, but how can you compare that?? I don't know if there's a Splawn forum or something, I've never heard of any broken... but I have seen maybe 5 people with them...so obliviously 100% of these are working perfectly

Get the Herbert and you'll never look back...

I used to have a Einstein and now have a VH4. I have done lots of shows with both and carried them around a lot. With and without case, from home to practice room, to gigs and back. I never had any issue with those amps apart from blown tube which certainly is nothing you or Peter can avoid since that are wearing parts. But the amps themselves never let me down.
Even if that might happen, Peter is the most helpful and friendly amp build I have ever met. Two thumbs up, one for awesome tone and one for best customer support ever

You are not going to have any problems. Nobody can predict a tube issue, that is why proper musicians carry spares. ;) And if you did have an issue, I would personally be taking care of it and I can assure you that you will be taken care of

Same here...toured in a little CAR (not even a bus) and my Herbert was sometimes even packed vertical because of the small space  ...I thought that was it, but I can assure you they are built to last!!

Also the Herbert is built in a such way that it makes it easy for you to change the tubes and adjust the bias.
And I have absolutely NO background in that at all, but the docs and the help here are awesome that you don't always have to run
to an amp tech!

While the amp is built like a tank, hope you are too because it can be really heavy (especially after the shows when you are tired).
But it's a nice workout before the show ;)

Diezel discussed if they should run a forum like this or not some years ago.
With something like a forum, open to everybody and very minor moderation from my side, you always have the risk that one can be under the negative impression that Diezels may have a lot of problems.
So yeah, some guys are seeking help here - because thats what we are here for, thats why we have a forum.

In most cases (please read general sticky) probs are caused by tubes, and Diezel is trying to do their best
a) to buy the best (most reliable and perfectly sounding) tubes available on the planet
b) buy tubes off most reliable dealers
c) test them (burning in) themselves

So 99% are tube related. 0.5% are some 20 cents LEDs (blue LEDs happen to die faster than yellow/red), 0.5% of older VH4s (the most) need an upgrade of their midi chip (big deal - instructions downloadable from the official site as a PDF, three minute job).

And last but not least (to get back to my first point) - some guys should definitely leave certain things to techs - but because many of them are going the low-cost-DIY-route - they are here and we try to help and not to cover user-error-caused things under the blanket of private PMs or emails like so many other manufacturers do.

Diezel is known for their top notch service worldwide. Thats a fact.
And for their overbuilt quality.

I have no doubt that you all have killer customer service. Everyone on this board is really helpful and I know that Duolos will bend over backwards to help someone out. You do make a good point that people who need help will come here to get it, so it may make it seem like there are a lot of problems.

Thanks for the responses guys, I really feel much better about this now.

Ive had my VH4 for over 5 years, for over ~100 shows it has never let me down!!

it's like Olaf said, 99.5 % of the problems are tube-fuse related..........that's something easy to solve.

dont stress these amps are tanks and customer support is better than any company out there. pukk the trigger on a diezel and dont look back

Diezel Herbert and Diezel VH4 - each getting at least 12-14hours/week of working out since 2007  . Absolutely NO problems at all.
