Thinking about trading my Marshall...

I'm making the move from a basement wanker to a bedroom wanker. As loud as this thing is, I might never get to plug in.

Anybody interested? Got any lower volume amps or cool guitars for trade?

I always run a hotplate with it. At various settings depending on who's home and whether or not they're sleeping. But even at -16 I wouldn't get to play it in the bedroom much. Across the hall from my kids' room. I'm even considering some kind of direct approach...axe-fx or something. But I've been down that road before many times and never stayed happy doing that.

I also may just store it away and not trade/sell it. Haven't decided yet.

I know that I heard Ralph's and it was real quiet...but again he had an additional gain stage I believe from Bray.

Well, the amp came to me with a Rich mod...didn't like it personally. The hotplate works great by itself, but even -16 is pretty damn loud.

BUT I haven't tried slaving this amp yet like roodboy suggested so I think it's worth a shot. It adds more gear to the equation which is the opposite of what I was trying to do, but it's worth a shot. I don't have another amp but I have a redbox and some powered monitors... I'll rig something together...

I wouldn't do it if I were you. Yeah I agree that the hotplate alone won't give you low enough volume. Take a look into the rich mod again. If you would like, I can take some pics of mine and send it to you. I changed a couple other things. I can highlight that as well.

Slaving into a really good clean power amp is also an option. I've tried it slaved into the XTC. Sounded good.

I don't really know for sure. Volume and space issues aside, I'd keep this amp, no question. Buddas are always on my radar. The Suhr Badger interests me.

Ok will do. I'll PM you when I have them. I'll circle what I changed. I know I did change the phase inverter circuit just a bit to make rich mod out of the circuit when cranked all the way. It's the best of both worlds.
