I have a massive amp collection and the VH4 is the most useful amp I have ever used or owned. My VH4 is on every record I've made since buying it. I also use it live with my band. Tele in channel 1 or 2 is amazing, Paul in 2 or 3 just kills. Anyway just wanted to report in. Great amp.

Tell me about it. One day I had to work without having any of my Diezels on my side & it was a freaking nightmare.

I miss my VH4S.......

But the Herbert is getting me by.

I still think your fucking crazy, ESPECIALLY after I bought a brand new fucking Herbert and put it up against my VH-4, and well, I owned the Herbert for about 48 hours... I told you man, once you have the Herbert for awhile your gonna start hearing that VH-4 channel 3 again, just wait until the honeymoon phase wears off!!!

I love them both. But for me....Channel 2+ on the Herbert is GOLDEN!
No mid cut.....just that with the gain about 1'oclock and a clean boost. So bad ass.....it brings tears to my eyes!

Your opinion is WRONG! Zee VH4 ist zee bezt!

Having both the VH4 & Herbert in the studio is a godsend!!

I would love to have both......
If i had to choose between one though....its HERBERT all the way for me!

We know you're a full fledged gear slut MailMan... It won't be long before you're poking the neighbors' VH4 again, oogling them online, trying to figure out how to get one in the house without Herb finding out...

It's okay. We've all been there ;)

V.

PS - thanks for the chime in James... Glad to see you're still kickin it.

I had both for a while and owned a Herbert for years, for me the VH4 just works on almost anything. The Herbert has a distinct color that is very original unto the Herbert and that is what doesn't make it the best all around studio amp for me. The VH4 is much more traditional sounding, kind of like the evil step brother of the best Marshall you ever heard. But again, this is just my opinion. Both amps are great but for me a Herbert is great if you're in a band and the Herbert is your SOUND, the VH4 will work if you're in Metallica or Bruce Springsteen. The middle of the road sounds are amazing on a VH4.

You nailed it right there for me James!
I love the Herbert and it really is the TONE my band has been looking for. I think of it as the VH4's MEANER brother!
We still do alot of old school hair metal but the Herbert gives it that slightier angrier voice but it still holds true to the untrained ear. :D

Love my Diezels!!
