I'd like to hear thoughts on whether ribbon cables and connectors are a potential issue waiting to happen in any amp that implements them in a circuit or if its totally dependent on what purpose they serve and they're function in the circuit. I assume handling higher voltage is problematic.

Are they reliable if used in certain instances for particular functions or should amps that incorporate them be avoided?

How do you determine what function they are performing if in an amp cicuit?

Would love to hear from guys building/modding amps in particular.

I think it was a Power Transformer Connector in my old Mesa 290 Power Amp.. One of the legs was burnt in the connector no doubt because it had a lousy connection which causes heat where it flows a lot of electricity.. I could smell something burning and caught it early..
I cut off the Connector and soldered the wires to the Board and it was good..

The old Mackie 8 Buss Mixers had tons of Ribbon Cables.. It was a source of dropouts and shitty audio. A known issue with them at the time..
