Thoughts on the Rocktron Velocity poweramp?

My purchase of the Prophesy II got me to looking at the Rocktron gear available (I don't really know much about Rocktron stuff).

Came accross the Velocity poweramp and it looks interesting (and cheap!). I doubt very seriously it would keep up with a VHT poweramp, but for at home use at reasonably low volumes, I wonder how one of these would sound.

Based on what I read, they are SS with tube emulation (whatever the hell that means :P )... I am guessing they are matched to the Rocktron preamps, but don't know that.

Any experience with these power amps?

Thanks!

Oh yeah, I also just came accross the Carvin DCM150. Looks pretty cool as well. Any opinions on it?

I still have a Velocity 120 and I had the DCM150. I sold the Carvin because I liked the sound of the Rocktron more. Before I got my 2:90, I used the Velocity 120 for live gives and it worked for me just fine. I have no experience with the Velocity 100 just so you know (which the only one they still make). I like the 120 and higher series.

go tube......Mesa VHT

friend of mine bought the rocktron and had nothing but headaches with it, bought a Mesa and never looked back

Tony,
I have owned all of them. The 100 blows, the 150 is ok the 300 is really nice. Deeper than say a mosvalve but still lacks the tube punch! For the money the Velocity 150 or 300 are great amps.

I think I like the Prophesy II enough that I am gonna just get a VHT 2/50/2. :P
