Time for some more 212 cabinet talk!

OK, Nick and I were discussing this a bit through email today.

Why do some 212 cabs such as Voodoo Labs, Bogner to name a few....look much beefier than the Egnater cabs? I noticed the Eggie 212 has what appears to be thinner wood. Maybe that is good because maybe it provides better resonance?

Any cab construction experts in the house?

My TMs are 3/4 inch,any thicker and you'd need a fork lift maybe there design overlaps so it appears thicker???

On second glance, rich, the thickness might just be from a lip/overlap kinda thing.

I doubt the shell of the cab is 1-2" thick...

I built a couple that look like they're 1" 1/2 thick but there not

I think you guys are talking about the ones like Orange or Avatar Contemporary? Yeah, I think these are just "trimmed" out to make the edge look bigger - I don't think the walls of the cab are really that thick

They aren't. Or they'd be heavy as hell. Most are 1/2" or 3/4"
