Hi Guy's

hopefully will be getting my Diezel Einstein by the end of the month, being new to Diezel Amp's and the Einstein was wondering is there any good set up tips?

originally planned to get the 50watt Einie, but heard about how you could mix tubes with the 100 watt head version,so i was sold on that idea straight away.my cab at the moment is an engl std with celestion's. i may upgrade later? but want to find my feet with the Einstein first.

guitar wise im using 3 full thickness esp ctm eclipse's,fitted with emg and suhr Doug aldrich pickups ,very few pedals just a korg pitch black tuner, isp decimator .

also was wondering ,can i switch down to a pair of tubes if i want to get the tubes warmer at lower volumes on the Einstein? does that even matter?

What style of music do you play the most?

general tips on the Einstein:

It's an AWESOME amp and will do it all.....start with ALL the knobs at 12:00 and then LISTEN. I REALLY recommend playing like this for a week or two. Don't mess with the knobs for a full week until you get used to the amp....learn how the amp reacts. Then after your ears get used to the Diezel Voicing start shaping your tone with what freq. you think are lacking and which should be cut down a bit..... (this means cut the treble, add bass, or add presence and cut some mids, etc etc etc)

You'll notice right away that the 3 modes in channel 1 won't sound even volume wise, you can use the second master volume to get around this (for example play mode 1 and 2 with master 1 and mode 3 and channel 2 with master 2). But if you set your gain around 12:00 - 1:00 and your channel volume around 2:00 the volume on the modes will be a bit more even between them.

The Einstein sounds best with the channel volume around 1:00 or 2:00 (then play with the master volume). If you're jaming at home you can set the channel volumes lower of course and will still sound very very good, but it excells with the ch. volumes at 2:00

You'll also notice right away that there's no need to take out tubes....use the 4 of them the amp will sound AWESOME and with only two tubes will not sound less loud. The clean channel WILL NOT BREAK, so dont even try....use mode 2 for the blues tones, it's gorgeous.

and last..... enjoy your amp...if it sounds KILLER to you from the get go don't go out changing tubes right away....if you already have 6L6s, EL34, 6550 etc etc then by all means try and find the tube that suits your playing and ears more. I prefer 6L6. Also playing with preamp tubes is a lot of fun, but don't become a tube-swaping junkie..... follow my first advice (play the amp as it is for a while) and then you'll be able to pick up what things you like and what to enhance and which you want to cut off a bit. For example after a while I found I wanted to make the clean channel the priority even if I lost a bit on the OD tones, and I went with a tube Peter recommended that made the amp sound more vintage and less saturated/heavy.

enjoy your new amp, it rocks!

Cheers Bro thats good advice

i listen to a lot of rock & metal , but recently making an attempt to bring some other colours ie tones into play to keep my playing sounding interesting .i really do like a nice clean sounding amp as well and ive heard good reviews about the clean ch on the einstein, so that captured my interest.anything from classic rock to blues right on through to metal pretty much sums what i like to play and listen to.

Hey Joey cheers will deff be taken your good advice on board .

Cheers

If you like a clean amp, you might want to try 6550's. Somewhere on here there's a sticky by Peter, stating Diezel is switching to 6550's and why. Seems to come close to what you want.

I have tried KT77's and EL34's. So far, I like Shuguang EL34's best. I have ordered SED 6550's for their reputed reliability and sound description. Haven't tried them yet, though.

Enjoy your amp!!

I would keep the amp as it is now from the factory...especially based on what you like sound wise. The Einstein is a wonderful amp that can do many a thing and does them all incredibly well.

1. If women aren't screaming and men aren't gnashing their teeth you aren't loud enough.
2. If small animals don't flee from your bass, turn the Deep up.
3. There really are not any tips, plug in, twist knobs until you like the tone, and then play.
