Hey guys,

I am starting to wonder if this is normal. When I play my TJ, which is new, channel one it is rather quite. When I switch to channel two the buzzing and hum are just too much, no matter the gain settings. I can even have the two channels dialed in the same! No pedals and my guitar is a Les Paul.

So, is this normal?

Whelp it does have 5 gain stages, so............. Mine is quieter than my Rev. 1 was, but it's still noisier than my Ultra Lead. I don't know what your version of buzz and hum being too much is though. I'm likely going to be using a noise suppressor with mine if I play it live FWIW.

Preamp tubes getting tired?

It's a month old, with little use so I doubt the tubes are getting tired. Gonna try swapping some tubes though, any recommendations?

If the fizziness is there when recording, best thing to do is lessen the gain. Gain never comes out good through a mic no matter what the amp.

However, that said, I'd go for any number of combos:
- try a high quality (GoldLionECC83) in V1
- try a high quality (as above, or LPS or EiYugo) in the PI slot
- depending on how much gain you "need", you can lessen the noise and incease headroom with Jan-Philips in V3 (or V4, can't remember)

Hope this helps. The above recommendations were based off of my purple-mod TJ. But I know the LPS and EiYugo are solid in the PI slots and I know the best preamp valve overall in all my amps for V1 is thhe ECC83 by Gold Lion (even though I am almost certain this is a re-branded high grade Sovtek LPS - seriously).
