Hi,

I was reading the manual for Torpedo Studio and this stood out in 3. In the Studio:

"The Torpedo Studio can be used in the studio for analog or digital recording. We shall concentrate here on digital recording, but you can use the Line Outputs, for example to feed a microphone preamplifier and add an extra “color” to your tone."

If someone could guide me - shouldn't the Torpedo Studio cover the mic preamp part as well? What the final signal chain would be in this case? From Torpedo Studio line outputs to microphone preamp to audio interface as it is described in the figure?

Thanks.

Hello @mikpou

The Torpedo Studio's outputs have a level that range from nothing up to +10dBu . Meaning, you can connect it to any audio device afterwards. You have enough level to drive a line level input, as well as you have nough control to lower the level to match the input level of a mic preamp.
Nowadays, all audio interfaces come with combo jack/XLR inputs for their preamps. The jack input is the line input, the XLR input is the mic preamp. You will use the related cable:
- XLR to TRS jack if you wish to connect to the line input of your interface
- XLR to XLR cable if you wish to connect to the mic input of your interface
