To what do you set your channel masters?

When I set mine at 12.00 o'clock, I have to lower the signal in the loop via my mxr eq to get rid of uncontrolable feedback. I play a Barekuckle Painkiller in my Ibanez RGA121 NF.

Was thinking if this is normal with high output pus?

I think it has more to do with gain setting than volume. Diezels have extra gain so you can use low output vintage pickups. Also, as your volume increases gain should decrease a bit. That's just my 2 cents. I notice on my vh4 if I'm playing at moderate volumes with med/high output pups my gain at barely passed noon is plenty high gain for nearly any metal. Channel 4 is insane amounts and feeds back easy if I'm near the amp (gain at noon). I usually have to turn the gain down to 10:00 or so to use live.

I am talking about more than "normal" feedback. I have feedback even if I mute the strings.
Gain isnt that high (11.30 in channel 3 of Herbert).
If I decrease the volume level after the preamp, that problem does not occur. Thats why I ask ;-)
