Im pleased to announce that Tone Merchants is now an Egnater dealer!!!

We will be carrying all the Modules along with the M4 preamp and Mod 50 Head and combo. All the new Egnater stuff arrived at the shop Thursday of last week and I spent the weekend playing every module. I know I have a tough job. Right now Im playing the modules using the M4 through a VHT 2150 power amp and Port City 2X12 w/ V30s. Im just blown away by the tones Im getting and will probably be getting an M4 for myself. Come by and check them out.

Welcome to the eggie family rob! Glad you guys became a dealer! Can't wait for my axefx to get here this week. ;)

Me too :) I've been fretting over switching from my MPXG2 to the AxeFX for a while.

Cool I want to see which one you prefer and your opinion on the effects comparison of each one. I'm not interested in the amp side of it but still would like to hear your take on that as well.

I talked to Rob about this very thing this morning. I have loved my MPXG2 for a LONG time, but I've read folks who are in similar boats to myself say that the AxeFX slays the MPXG2 for effects. I know I'll use some of the heavier sounds in the amp sims, but will mainly use the Eggie stuff as that's "my tone". I'm looking at using this more as a effects processor and recording tool. It might be able to allow me to use the M4 and the cab sims for recording. Who the hell knows :). I won't know until I do side by side tests! Or I'll just use it as a direct replacement to my MPXG2.

Any two ways around it, I'm just plain excited. M4 + AxeFX Ultra + VHT 2/90/2 w/ 6550s with my Eggie cabs, can't be a bad combo in the least!!!

I'm just curious to know how good the Noise Gate is comparing it to the MPXG2. That's what has kept me in the MPXG2 for this long. The effects were really good, but not superb...you can do parallel mixing with it...and the noise gate was awesome. I'll be curious to know if I will need a Decimator with this or not. I'm hoping not honestly. That will allow me to do the smallest rig possible. I'd really just be happy if I could do Guitar -> AxeFX -> M4 -> AxeFx -> VHT 2/90/2 -> Eggie Cab.

Time will tell! It'll be a fun weekend for sure!

I switched from the MPXG2 to the Axe-FX. The phrase "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out" comes to mind.

Ouch!!! So I'm guessing you are happy with the Axe...

thanks for the warm welcome guys.

Im kinda pissed at myself for not jumping on the Egnater boat earlier, Dave Friedman kept on me about it. Im hoping to work with Jeff, Bruce and Frank and hopefully do some cool stuff with them at tone merchants when their in town.

Ive already decided to put an M4 in the rig Im goin to have built. The Bogner Fish is like a child to me and is my all time favorite tone. But when u consider the versatility of the M4 (8 freaken channels) and bang for the buck factor, then The M4 is going to be tough to beat. when I saw the price of an M4, I couldnt believe how affordable it was considering what you get.

Eric
great talking to you and you Axe shipped today!!!!

The G2 was a solid piece, but was never quite what it was advertised as. The gain pedal "simulations" were barely passable and I could never get a good chorus or flange sound out of it. Also I always had issues with the dry/wet mix of the effects. The sound always got quieter after turning an effect on, even after the eprom update that was supposed to fix the problem. The reverbs and delays were nice but that was about it. Oh yeah...the menu navigation was not designed very well and was a pain to get around in.

The R2 controller was a joke. On the outside it appears to be built like a tank. On the inside they use these cheap little switches that tend to go bad easily. I had to special order high quality switches and solder them in myself. It wouldn't have been so bad if the R2 didn't cost like $500 if I remember right.

Other than that it was great.
