So at rehearsal, my torpedo live failed on me. I heard a pound crackling noise, and thought it was a cable issue. I swapped the cable, and continued forward. Out of nowhere, the volume got really pound and harsh sounding, almost as though the preamp from my guitar amp got directly connected to the mixer input without cab simulation. I did not notice any overload protection notice on the LCD screen, nor did i smell anything go up in smoke. i did immediately try to turn the output volume down due to the high volume. the output sound was not affected at all, even when the output claimed to be muted. at this point, i noticed that the input lights were no longer working. I didn't have time to troubleshoot, so i plugged my speaker back in and took the torpedo out of the signal path. Anyone out there ever experience this? Im very concerned….

How old is your unit? I'd put in a support ticket. They have been super fast in responding whenever I have had an issue.

support ticket has been submitted. fingers crossed that they can get this thing working properly again.

So heres a major curveball... I tried taking a line from my amps FX send directly into the torpedoes line input and utilize the Live's power amp sims. Everything seemed to function as expected. I was again able to adjust the incoming input levels and hear the coloration of the various cab sounds. Just for the hell of it, i unplugged everything, and plugged the speaker out into the speaker in, and magically, the unit worked again! I am happy to see a return to service, but now I'm even more concerned that this issue could pop up randomly again. I must admit that i am rather torn... I cannot imagine that hooking up the amp into the line in somehow made the unit forget its troubles...

Interesting! I was going to purchase a used unit as well but I was worried about something like this. Mine literally was delivered on Friday. I have a very large corporate gig next and I took it to sound checks yesterday in the early evening. What an awesome tone I got with some of the new LeBoutique cabs.

Hope this one gets checked over for you and repaired!

That's a strange issue indeed...

Hope the previous owner didn't fry the unit, we'll take care of you on the Help Desk.

Thank you for the reply. I received a short list of instructions via the help desk, and my unit passed all of these. Not sure what to do now. Fortunately, the unit is currently functioning properly.

Ok, so the load bypass test worked, good.

Three possibilities I can think of off the top of my head...

a) You over-cooked the load.

b) You over-cooked the load and there's a bug in the firmware's shut-down routine?

c) Something intermittent in the switching jack that turns off the LINE Input when a speaker cable is connected to the speaker in?

Not sure how I could have cooked the load, especially now that it's returned to normal function (for now...) and that I wasn't anywhere near to 50% of my amps output, which is below the 100w threshold. I would think that the 3rd possibility could be a contender tho...
