I imagine this is likely a bit of a nube question, however, I'm curious to read any input that may result. A quick search didn't yield any results, however, if this has been previously discussed a link would be appreciated:

Are there any concerns and/or issues to be aware of - other than volume differences - when using a multi-watt amp with a Torpedo Live or load box setup?

Specifically, I'm using a Mesa Mark V which has 10w/45w/90w switches on all three channels.

You should be fine as long as your amp doesn't push out more than 100W; I'm no amp guru, but I read that some 100 watt amps push out more than 100 W, so just be careful not to push the amp to the full limit with the live plugged in

Thanks for the responses.

I'm far, far from an amp guru myself, hence the questions and concerns running through my mind with this whole setup. This question might be one better served on the Mark V forum, so I'll try that, as well.

I guess I didn't go into details, however, as I was tweaking around this weekend, I was just wondering about what goes on when I flip the amp wattage switches - there's one on the front for each channel.

As a matter of fact, most 100W amps (properly designed) will be able to deliver 150W RMS at full volume and full distortion level. Most of the time it's the worst sound you can get, but let's focus on the power itself.

The Live can handle 100W RMS and it is designed to handle this power for a VERY LONG time before asking you to lower the power (in a polite way, of course).

There are security systems on all our products that will protect the user, the amp and the Torpedo against overheating, so you can safely try and see how much you can send to you Torpedo with your amp, and simply adjust the level to stay safe for the time you need.

Sorry it's not a yes or no answer, thighs tends to be a little more complicated than that, but I hope this can help. ;)
