hello, i just picked up a tour master head, i checked the bias and it was 155 so i set it to 120 as it calls for by the bias pot, i talked to sombody that new about egnaters, they said i should run it hotter around 135, if anybody can give me the low down that would be great, i dont mind changing tubes every 6 months or so, i would prefer to go for tone, they also said that the tubes 1&2 and 3&4 work as pairs, it has been my understanding that 1&4 and 2&3 work together??? thanks, kent

What kind of tubes are in it??

If they are 5881's, you most likely are ok from like 116 to 140, so running it at 135 should be fine. Maybe Jeff can chime in here, but I think you'd be fine.

groove tubes 6l6R just wanted to make sure i would'nt fry it? as for the pairing 1&2 or 1&4 ?

6L6 run basically the same as 5881's, so the numbers should be fine as well.

As a rule, the tubes run 1 &4, and 2&3 so if you pull two, you can pull the outer two. Hopefully Jeff will chime in soon.

i allways thought 1&4 and 2&3 were paired, the information i got was diffrent, so i wanted to make sure on the bias leval, could have been a misunderstanding, :)

Pairs are inner and outer tubes. Your choice will be fine with bias. A bit hot but not crazy.

How is the tone on the tourmaster?

How does it compare to the Mod50?

I am looking to pick one up in addition to a mod50

Please describe.......

Thanks
Angelo

How does the tourmaster sound?

hey guys the amp sounds great, busy with the hollidays... i would like to say a little more about the amp after i gig with it and or record, but i'm sure that its going to bring alot of diversity to what ever the gig may be, i need to play alot of diffrent flavors & textures, there is alot on tap! dont have time to run through the channels now but i can tell you a good place to start reading about it is the manual, download it, i will say, that i used to listen to alot of holdsworth and channel 4 gives you that great feel for his legato style solos, fast lite touch, very responsive, in the manual it says you could play with channel 2 all night, i agree very tastful, and since there is alot of sounds in the amp it will be subjective as to how you set it up, guitars-pickups-and most importantly your style & taste, i am pleased that its easy to achieve them, not like some channel switchers that i have spent more time tweeking trying to dial it in than playing
