Hey guys. Was hoping someone could offer me some advice here. I was playing my Tourmaster tonight and we ended up having a power failure in the house. When power came back, everything in my rig (Power strip, effects) came back fine, but the 4100 seems to be dead. I get no power light, no fan, nothing. Should I bring it back to GC for evaluation?

Check the fuse in the back first,by the power cord.Good place to start.

Sounds like a fuse to me. My try other things like another electrical outlet, make sure your power cord is plugged in, make sure all your cables are plugged in... Double check the obvious- volume up, things like that...

;)

Thanks for the help guys. I saw that there was a spare fuse in the back when I pulled the housing out. The original was blown. I replaced it and tried to power up. Same results, but this time the spare fuse is also blown. Seems as though whatever is wrong is instantly blowing the fuses. I will try to change the outlet with a third fuse and see what happens.

What fuses were in there/type rating etc.Was the fuse already blown or did it blow when fired up again,if so,it could be a power tube.

Manual says 5A/250V. Having trouble reading what the actual fuse was. But my amp was sealed in the box when I picked it up so assume that was what it was. To answer your question, the spare was fine when I pulled it out of the holder. Then after I tried to power the amp, it was blown.

Egnater Customer service is great,do not worry ,but if your GC is local by all means drive that puppy back down there and get some new tubes and or fuses or just swap it out for a new one :D

Bad power tubes was my next guess. But hell, why use your stuff if GC will just replace it for you, either tubes, fuses, or the whole amp?

Silly question (but maybe valid )
Are you putting the fuse holder back in the right way

My M4 has a fuseholder that also selects the input voltage and can be put in one of 4 ways

I thought my M4 was dead on arrival - turns out I had just put the fuseholder in the wrong way (when changing to the right fuse) for the voltage that we have in the UK

sounds just like our 4100

after swapping fuses we swapped tubes still did not work

turned out to be the power transformer blew.

I tried different outlets with new fuses I picked up today, same results - As soon as I power up, the fuse blows. Also, to answer felineguitars question, fuse holder only goes in 1 way on the tourmaster. Looks like I will need to get it down to GC. Thanks for the help guys- advice is much appreciated. I guess I am looking at Amp Modeling in Pro Tools in the mean time. Sure hope GC can fix this quickly - Already miss my Tourmaster!

Hey guys. Well, GC is offering no help, They say it is a bad power tube but they are not warranted. So looks like I need to buy a new matched set unless Egnater can help me out.

Anyone have any recommendations here. Should I go with the same Groove Tubes or something else?

Typical GC- Either LYIN' or the guy didn't know what he was talking about. Eggie warrants the tubes for three months, just like virtually everyone else does. No reason why they couldn't have given it to you, it seems to me- Egnater would have, I assume, reimbursed them for it.

I don't mind buying from them- sometimes- but I would NEVER deal with them in terms of repairs.

Any chance of getting "Authorized Egnater Repair Centers" in the Boston area? That is one thing that has concerned me a bit if anything ever really goes wrong.

No matter, I guess, except you have to wait. Egnater will replace the tubes for you just like they did for me!

;) ;) :D :D
