Should I buy one or wait for the renegade? Or save my money and get the M4?
The tone I'm after is similar to say a Bogner Shiva but I want versatility

I'd personally either wait for the renegade if you can do a 2 channel amp, or get a Mod50 / M4. I'd vote for #2, as it has the most flexibility. The modular series is the "be all end all" for me. I don't even feel the need for a renegade. Although, I'd love to get a one module / dual channel amp someday that uses something like EL84s for small gigs, but we'll see :) I'd be nice to just grab / go with a rig like that.

I have the Tourmaster 4212 and I love it. However, the Renegade wasn't available when I was looking. If it was it is possible I would have gotten it.

I find the main drawbacks of the Tourmaster are that it is heavy and that it has a bit steep of a learning curve.

Strengths are many:

Flexible- I don't think anything beats the Tourmaster for this.
Great sound
Variable power
Footswitchable effects that can be either series or parallel
Plenty of power
Self-biasing for power output tubes

The Mod 5o is probably a better amp- but much more expsensive, particularly when you get into all of the modules.

For a self-contained 4 channel amp, the Tourmaster is hard to beat!

I'm way to impatient, I played this little puppy and bought it today 4 hr round trip!

Congratulations! I gave thought to the Rebel- It has a snap to the tone the Tourmaster doesn't really get. Still, I wanted at least two channels and self-contained.

Enjoy!
