so, i'm having a hard time mapping out where every wire goes.

is there a schematic for this. i'm really in a pinch, there's like 30 wires, and it's all really tight and confined in there...going to be super hard to document each wire.

anyone?

or should i just pay the local amp guy the 160$ minimum to open the hood and remove it..providing he even knows what the hell he's doing.

If you haven't removed the old transformer already, the best way to do this is to get some tags, or even pieces of tape and when you remove a wire from the transformer, just tag the tab it came off of with the color of the wire. That way when you put the new one in, all you have to do is match the wire colors up to where they came off of.

I just did mine a few days ago. I simply drew a (top view) picture of the old tranny, while it was still installed, noting front, back, left-side, right.....ect. Took a few pictures of the leads inside, routing, connections, etc. Clipped all the wire-ties, and removed each lead one-by-one, noting the color and location on my home-made diagram. Example: #3 orange wire goes to P-7 190VAC2 post. I kinda wish they would send an "official" diagram as well, there are a few things I need to double check. If you run into problems, maybe I can scan mine and send it over

awesome!!! thank you so much guys. i was thinking along the same lines of what you both suggested here.

is this going to require me to drain the caps? as i now have a way to do it safely.

Yes, but I assume your Tourmaster has been out of commission for a while, therefore it's probably been discharged already? I also assume you're speaking of the "power on and play mode for five minutes" technique that Ian had suggested. I'd say you're safe to go. I never had to discharge my caps because my amp had been down for months.

yes, it's been down since the end of may. it went out in the middle of playing it. i wasn't sure if the "on and play for five mins" would do the trick since the PT is suspect.

thanks again!!!
