I'm starting to feel cursed relative to the Tourmaster. I love the tones I can get from this beast but I'm on my third unit and now it's got the same problem as the first I bought. Fired it up the other day and was greeted with a nasty hum. After a little deja-vu I realized that the hum had replaced the reverb. Exact same problem as head number one. Reverb no longer works but I've got a nasty hum in it's place. Anybody have any ideas what might be up with this?

Tube. I had an old Mesa Boogie Heartbreaker that this happened to. I racked my brains only to find a bad preamp tube.

Tube is always the first place to go. Reverb on my 4212 died, put in a new tube and bang! Sounds great.

:D

What was the problem with #1? Most likely just a tube. Please contact john@egnateramps.com or nate@egnateramps.com
I'm sure it's a simple problem to resolve.

#1 had the same problem this one has developed. Got it home and noticed the problem. Took it back to Guitar Center and picked up #2 which came with an incorrect fuse. I replaced it with the correct fuse but it kept blowing them. I feel a lot of the problem has been with the fact that all of the units were obviously handled and probably abused quite a bit at the stores. I waited three weeks for replacement #3 to come in from a store in NYC which was supposedly brand new in the box. Drove the 80 miles back to store to find the "new in the box" head in a Bogner box. Opened the box to find the pedal board basically just thrown in the box with out any packing. The whole head was a mess. Tolex torn in a few places. The front panel scratched up (most likely from the pedal board). Waited another two weeks for another head that was found in Ca. Drove back to store to find this head in an Egnater box! But still was not new. The Tolex on this unit was torn as well :( . It played well so I decided to take it tears and all. Anyway a real adventure imo thanks to GC.

Hoping it's just a tube! I'll email.. Thanx

you ever figure out what was wrong with it?

i have the same problem. reverb replaced by a hum, but it's not nasty or loud, just "there" when it originally wasn't. i have yet to hear back from the shop and was wondering if anyone else had any input.

there seems to be signal on the output wire (the black one) as it gives and audible buzz if i unplug it from the tank itself.
but no noise from the red wire.

should i just turn it over the GC at this point, with extended warranty in hand and go that route?

Did you guys email John or Nate, as Bruce suggested? It does sound like a tube issue.
