Hi, I'm new here and recently borrowed a friends (Randall, I think) M4 unit. Anyway, did some googling to find out more about the unit and that is kinda how I became aware of Egnater. I did a search here and didn't turn anything up, but I find it hard to believe no one has asked this yet. Are there any plans to bring the Tube blend option in the Renegade to the Tourmaster? I think it is a really cool idea. Oh, also, can you switch in EL34s in the Tourmaster? If so, has anyone tried it and did it make any perceptible difference? Thanks.

IMO, it is probably not feasible if it remains a 100W amp. That would mean 8 power tubes (two sets of 4) - I think that chassis is already crammed full - not sure there would be room for another set of tubes. If they reduced it to a 50W amp so the tubes fit, then it becomes like a 4ch version of the Renegade. Then they run the risk of the "GM Syndrome" - i.e. too many similar models...

It does seem like it would be a good add to the MOD50 however

You know, alien, those are all pretty good points. I hadn't thought of those. I guess no matter how many features come packed in an amp, you always think you need one more!

Just for grins, can the 6L6's be swapped out for EL34's in this amp like some of the Mesa Boogies? I have been looking at the Mark V and the Tourmaster, but the Mark is a ton o'cash.

EDIT: I found a thread talking about different power tubes and found my answer. You can use EL34's but lose the ability to use the amp on anything but full power.

I think we can safely assume that there aren't going to be any major changes or additions to the Tourmaster, much as tube mix would be great. It is a complicated enough amp. To make it worthwhile it would have to take EL-34's or 84's and in order to mix them you would have to redesign the amp so that those would also have the power scaling. I can't see Egnater investing that kind of time or money in the Tourmaster at this point.

A 4 channel Renegade might be interesting, though!

:D ;)
