Let me get it out of the way first thing, I'm no fool... I've been on the internet long enough to know how not to be swindled :) Having said that, I've been curious for a bit now if anyone on here has ever had any experience with trading diezel amps either between other people online, or by some other method?

I ask this because I've had an interest in getting a VH4 for a long time now. I own a Herbert myself, and while I love the thing to death, I played a VH4 and shat a little bit. They're just different beasts. The obvious problem is the cost of buying one outright. I think we can all agree that they are a bit pricey. The Herbert has some cosmetic problems, a couple lights out, tolex scuffs ect. While it still plays and sounds amazing, I would no doubt have to take a big hit because of these imperfections if I tried to sell it outright. Likely too big of a hit to be able to get a VH4, and I cant really afford to be without the thing for too long since I play in a band. I've thought of contacting Diezel itself and seeing if there would be some possibility of trading it in along with some determined amount of cash or something but I thought I'd fish around for some opinions first.

Forgive me if this all seems pretty stupid, but I'm just trying to see if there are any options at all. Thanks guys :)

Are you the youtube guy? Nice to see you around, sweet covers!

Not too long ago vh4 and herb were about the same price in Europe, if I remember correctly; no idea about USA prices past or present. Generally the forum member classifieds here are probably a good place to start looking for someone willing to trade... at the end of the day it's going to be swapping two used high quality amps with some cosmetic wear, I don't see the problem. Approximate the used-value of both, factor in what accessories you get or offer, be ready and willing to travel and give each other a chance to try the amps and decide in person.

Somehow I doubt Papa is going to trade you a USA vh4 for a new herb from half the world away, they are in the business of making and selling amps, but you can never know.

I have traded amps once in person and I ended up making a profit off of it but I wasn't swindling or cheating anyone, it seems dualrectos just sell pretty well and they were definitely not my cup of tea so it had to go again quickly. I based my decision off of forum-reputation and initial communication, then just decided to meet and let each other try and check the amp and that was it.

I was pretty tired when I wrote that lol. I should probably be more specific, I was mainly wondering if anyone has had any experience with trading out of driving distance? Is there any sort of precedent for shipping your Diezel off and hoping to get one back lol? Or maybe using a store or something as a passive moderator to recieve the amps or something? I don't mean to say that I want attempt something like this necessarilly, just wondering if it has happened much, if at all, and how?

Yea I was never putting much stake into the whole contacting Diezel thing. That WOULD be kind of arrogant and presumptuous wouldn't it? Just kinda throwing things out there at 4 in the morning lol.

I would be very hesitant to do that unless it was a well known member here on this forum.

I agree, that being said Steve K is not well known! He's not well at all! Bahahaha
